Beginnings usually set the tone and direction of every task.  For instance, the first note in a song sets the tone that provides the rhythm of the entire song.  If the music leader or the organist gives the wrong cue, the whole song may be in disarray.

As we begin the new year, it is important to set the right rhythm in our lives. The kind of tone we pick at the beginning may have a profound influence and impact on our plans and direction.

There is no better way to start the new year by imploring God’s blessings as we set our journey to many unknown possibilities and challenges ahead of us.

We have to believe that we do not only have a powerful but a merciful God. God sees those opportunities that we are not able to see. God touches those possibilities that we are not able to touch.  God connects a series of events. He directs us to be at the right place, with the right people, and at the right time.

Let us allow God to be the guide and light of our path. It is important to be in agreement with God as we set the tone to live with a spirit of great hope and excitement. We have to leave the negativities and pains behind.

Let us plan for an excellent year with a new vision and a new attitude. Let us look forward to witnessing God’s miracles and loving grace unfold in our lives all throughout the year.

The key word is “believe.” Lord, I believe. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he gives you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). God is directing our every step to be in the right direction for the new year. He knows our needs. He knows how to bring them to us.

This year is going to be a great and blessed year for us and our families.
