The new wine of Jesus’ ministry calls for new wineskins, which means a new way of life in keeping with the good news that He proclaims. Jesus’ message calls for renewal and transformation.

Each day is a day to try something new so that we become better persons. It’s time to look at the old things and habits that prevent us from discovering who we truly are.

If we have a habit of always looking at the dark side of things, it may be time to explore their positive aspects. If we always want to control the progress of life, it may be time to find peace, knowing that we cannot hold everything in our hands despite our best efforts. If we are anxious about the future, it may be time to live in the present and rise to the occasion.

Jesus says you do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Instead, pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved. Rupture occurs when we try to put the new wine of the spirit into the old wineskins of our lives. We need to renew our very self to contain the newness that God brings into our lives. We will discover the best in us.
